Working out everyday allows me to stay productive

I own and operate a small gymnastic studio, where I teach floor tumbling, vault, beam and bars.

My students vary in age from just two-years-old up to around eighteen or nineteen.

The job of working with these kids is very gratifying but also strenuous. I spot the students as they attempt more difficult skills to ensure their safety. I not only need the knowledge to place my hands in the right positions at the perfect time, but also the strength to support their weight. To prevent injury to both the students and myself, it’s necessary that I remain in peak physical condition. Outside of training gymnasts, I prioritize my level of fitness. I make sure to devote approximately an hour a day on a combination of flexibility, strength training and aerobic exercise. I understand the importance of a dedicated warm up and cool down. By keeping my muscles strong and my body toned, I also hope to lead by example. I follow a healthy lifestyle. From the amount of sleep I get at night to the amount of water I drink during the day, I take good care of myself. Despite these efforts, there’s always the chance of injury. Over the years, I’ve sprained a wrist, gotten my nose broken and pulled a groin muscle. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed that my job seems more strenuous and I’m more exhausted at the end of the day. However, at age 55, I’m still able to support the weight of students much larger than me. I am convinced that working out everyday allows me to continue being active and productive.

Personal trainer helps with rehabilitation after injury from falling on the ice

A couple years ago, I slipped and fell on the ice.

It was during a winter blizzard, when the outside conditions were just horrible.

I was rushing to get inside the house after work. Because it was already dark, I didn’t notice the black ice on the driveway until it was too late. My feet slipped out from under me and I fell badly. I hit my head against the car, twisted my ankle and broke a wrist. I also managed to mess up my knee. Despite physical rehabilitation and prescription medication, I lived with constant pain. My doctor suggested surgery on my knee, but I was reluctant. I knew that after surgery, the knee would never be quite as strong again. I hoped to find a less invasive and more constructive alternative. A friend of mine recommended working with a personal trainer. I had my doubts but was willing to try anything. At the initial consultation, the trainer and I simply discussed my concerns and goals. He talked a lot about total body wellness and the importance of including proper diet and sleep habits with regular exercise. He helped me to develop a meal plan that is far more nutritious than the way I was eating. This plan includes a great deal of vegetables, fruits and lean proteins, while avoiding saturated fats and processed sugars. I also meet with the personal trainer three times per week for hour long sessions. The training is extremely intense and strenuous. He combines all sorts of strength building exercises with those targeted at aerobics and flexibility. I’ve gradually increased my ability to include high impact aerobics. My entire body is much stronger and more toned. I have a lot more endurance now, and there’s very little pain in my knee. I still wear a support brace on the knee, but I’m hoping to get rid of that in the near future.

Running leads to foot issues

Keeping in physical shape has always been important to me.

I’ve always made time to exercise and made a point of keeping active.

When I was younger, I had plenty of time to devote to my workouts. I maintained a gym membership and usually spent a couple hours there, five days per week. After I had my kids, my schedule became more hectic. I no longer had the opportunity to drive to the gym. I started running because it was easier and more convenient. The only equipment I needed was a pair of sneakers. As long as someone was around to watch the kids, I could take off on a run and get a good workout. It’s a quick way to burn a lot of calories. Running works the whole body and elevates the heart rate. I rapidly increased stamina, distance and pace. Unfortunately, I made the mistake in running in an old pair of sneakers. These shoes lacked necessary support and I developed plantar fasciitis. It felt as if the bottoms of my feet were tearing open. It got so painful that I had trouble walking and sleeping through the night. I was finally forced to see a podiatrist who provided inserts for my shoes. He recommended that I ice my feet, rest them and take ibuprofen for the pain. He said that if I took better care of my feet and purchased the proper footwear, I should be able to run again. After several months of avoiding impact on my feet, I am now running again. I am more careful to change up my workouts now. If I run one day, I either ride my bike, swim or lift weights the following day.

Setting up a home gym

I make physical fitness a priority in my life.

Since I was a teenager in high school, I’ve set aside an hour a day to workout.

Even as an adult, with tons of responsibilities, I make time to exercise every day. I live in an area where the weather most often prohibits outdoor activities. I can’t exactly go for a run or a bike ride when it’s negative twenty degrees. Between the heat, humidity, high winds, rain and sub zero temperatures, I’ve needed to figure out a way to follow a worthwhile fitness routine indoors. For a while, I was making the trip to a gym four or five times per week. The thirty minute drive added too much time to the workout. It simply wasn’t convenient. I decided to set up a home gym and began researching different types of exercise equipment. It’s not all that expensive to buy a yoga mat, some free weights and a jump rope. The larger machines are much more costly. I needed to save up for a weight bench. I spent a lot of time researching the benefits of treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes and stair masters. I wanted to get the most out of my investment. I finally chose a stationary bike because it avoids impact on my knees, feet and ankles. By raising the resistance level and pedaling at a swift pace, I’m able to burn anywhere between four and six hundred calories in an hour. The bike operates quietly, doesn’t take up all that much room and has proven very reliable. It features a fan that helps to keep me cool during the workout.

Enjoying a new jump rope system

I’ve enjoyed jumping rope since I was a little girl.

Where I once jumped rope for the fun of it, I now use it as a great cardio workout.

I always got by with a plain leather jump rope with weighted handles. I liked the weighted handles for targeting the muscles in my arms and shoulders. However, the leather rope tended to tangle and knot. It didn’t take long for it to fray and break. I was forced to replace the jump rope every year. About two years ago, my son bought me a modern jump rope system for Mother’s Day. The set included two ropes and a single set of handles. Each rope features a rotating metal clasp on the ends that attaches to the handles. Rather than weighted handles, the ropes are different thicknesses and weights. As part of the system, I received a quarter-pound and half-pound rope. They are made out of some type of synthetic material that rotates very smoothly. I’m able to jump at a much faster pace. I’ve noticed a big difference between the quarter-pound and half-pound rope. The lighter rope promotes faster jumps and elevates my heart rate. The heavier rope slows the rotation but works my arms and shoulders a bit harder. I’ve since purchased a one-pound and two-pound rope as well as a rubber mat designed for jumping. I’ve downloaded a jump rope app onto my smartphone. The app was free and it provides guided jump roping workouts. I can choose between beginner or advanced training sessions that last anywhere between twenty and forty minutes.

Running app provides fresh motivation

One of my favorite ways to workout is to run.

Although I have a treadmill for inclement weather, I prefer to get outside.

I enjoy breathing fresh air, feeling the sunshine and looking at new scenery. I typically run for anywhere between four to six miles several days per week. In the last months, I started having difficulty getting motivated. I was bored with my run. There are only so many paths I can take and I’ve run them countless times. I noticed that my times were much slower and I was often tempted to either cut the run short or skip it altogether. It was becoming more and more difficult to convince myself to head out in the morning. When I complained to a buddy of mine, he suggested that I download a running app onto my smartphone. The app was free, and it’s proven invaluable. I started by providing my age, height and weight. It then started tracking the distance and speed of my runs. I get alerts when I’ve achieved a personal best. I can set goals for each day or even the whole month. Plus, during the run, I get updates on my progress. A voice breaks into the music and informs me of my current pace, average overall speed and distance covered. It also provides the number of calories burned on the run. At first, this information was a little discouraging. I was much slower than I’d thought. However, I was encouraged to run faster and longer. The app has given me a reason to work hard and improve.

Trying to workout during home remodeling project

There’s simply no available time.

My husband and I are in the middle of a remodeling project. We’ve torn down walls and ceilings to the bare studs. We’re in the process of putting up insulation and drywall as well as sanding the hardwood floors. The goal is a whole new kitchen and living room. This means new cupboards, countertops and windows. We expect the job to take us several months to complete. The mess has spread throughout the entire house. It’s impossible to contain the amount of construction debris, dust and tools. We are handling all the work ourselves and devoting every minute of our free time to moving the project forward. I’ve found it very difficult to accomplish my daily workout. In my regular routine, I get up every morning at 7:30 AM and devote at least an hour to physical fitness. When the weather is mild, I can get outside and go for a run, ride my bicycle and jump rope. If it’s overly chilly, windy, raining or even hot and humid, I typically workout in an area of the house I’ve set up as a personal gym. This area is now dusty at all times. I need to get up extra early to make time to clean the equipment and mats. No matter how well I clean everything, there’s still a great deal of lingering dust. I spend the entire workout sneezing and coughing. There’s also the difficulty of finding an opportunity to workout. There’s simply no available time. I’m so exhausted from working on the remodeling project, I can’t force myself to get up any earlier. I don’t want to leave my husband to hang drywall by himself while I workout. However, skipping my workout altogether gets me extremely aggravated. I want to maintain my fitness level.

I love the closet design that we have come up with

I recently bought a lake residence that has a sizable open closet space.

The closet is as massive as the entryway happens to be… I am so enthusiastic to be able to have all my clothes, jewelry as well as make up in this one location.

The complication is that I want to ensure that all the space is utilized. I don’t want to mess up my closet as well as regret it at a later time. I need hooks, cubbies as well as spots for my jewelry. I am not really good with measurements or trying to imagine what everything will look like in a space. I made the choice that it was worth calling an interior designer. The design corporation pairs with a custom furniture builder as well. They had a guy visualize the layout of the space. He came up with a rather unique shelving plan for me. The shelves can turn on a crank so I can easily rotate clothing as well as fit more in than I would have originally. He also designed a shoe cubby the perfect height for all my shoes. He even made me a cubby that had a magnetic side that my jewelry would link to naturally. The stuff isn’t all in my closet as of yet. However, I have seen the pieces that he has built as well as it is going to be wonderful. I am going to have more than enough room for this. I am so enthusiastic to get everything in the closet as well as put all my belongings inside of there. That space is going to be the main showpiece for the whole residence. I might even put in a chair so I can hang out in the closet to take care of my makeup. There is easily enough room.

Coming up with the perfect design for our closet

I recently decided to get a property that has an immense open closet space. The closet is as sizable as the bedroom happens to be. I made the choice that it was worth calling an interior designer. The design business pairs with a custom furniture builder as well. They had a guy envision the layout of the space, but he came up with a truly unique shelving system for me. The shelves are able to turn on a crank so I can rotate clothing & fit more in than I would have in the first place. He also designed a shoe cubby the proper height for all our shoes. He even made me a cubby that had a magnetic side that my jewelry would connect to naturally. The stuff isn’t all in my closet quite yet. However, I have seen the pieces that he has built & it is going to be superb. I am going to have more than enough space. I am so happy to get everything in the closet & put all my belongings inside of there. That space is going to be the showpiece for the whole property. I might even put in a chair so I can hang out in the closet to do my makeup regularly. There certainly is enough room.

Going for the ultimate closet design

I recently bought a dwelling that has a big open closet space.

  • The closet is as massive as the bedroom is! I am so glad to be able to have all my clothes, jewelry plus make up in a single spot.

The main issue is that I want to ensure that all the space is completely utilized. I don’t want to mess up our closet plus regret it later. I need hooks, cubbies plus arenas for my jewelry. I am not particularly gifted with handling measurements or imagining what everything will look like in a particular space. I made the choice that it was worth calling an interior designer. The design supplier pairs with a custom furniture builder also. They had a guy envision the layout of the space, he came up with a particularly excellent shelving method for me.
