Add life to HVAC while saving some money at the same time

Change has never been an appealing part of life for me.

I like to sort of stay with what I know.

It’s the way I have been all of my life. While I find a great deal of security in process and structure, that isn’t the main motivating factor when change is on the horizon. I think it simply is that I am afraid of new stuff on certain level. That leads me to resist change in general. But sometimes, it’s just time to put aside fears and get done what needs to be done. I was faced with that this year. As we all are faced with the changes wrought by the pandemic, the economic impact was quite deep in our house. My wife lost her job. I am working from the HVAC comfort of home. But, we still had bills to pay and kids to raise. Thus, I chose to go after a change I should have made years ago. I got serious about saving all I could on the HVAC costs. The heat in our area makes it so the HVAC cooling runs at least 7 months out of the year. However, the summer months get really expensive. Mostly because we have over cooled our home during the day. Not this year, with all of us at home, I took dead aim at the HVAC setting. That thing got pushed up as the heat of the day peaked. We just dealt with it. Honestly, the fans we used made it totally doable. Sure, it was warmer but not anything we couldn’t handle. And we kept it up throughout the entire summer.
