When I first purchased my house, I remember asking my mom for advice on what I should look for; She gave me so numerous odd stories.
The one I strictly remember but, is the one about the time she had a gas heater, and it was quite some time ago. She did not realize how much of a danger gas boilers could be back then. She had been having some problems with it and decided she would call in the morning to the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C contractor one afternoon… By that time but, it was too late. That night while she was sleeping, she heard the carbon monoxide detector go off. She panicked and ran outside. She made sure to grab everybody before she did go outside. I had no idea that if a gas heater malfunctions, it could leak carbon monoxide gas. This is gas that could potentially kill you if you are not careful. This is why she had a carbon monoxide detector in the first place, not only was she having trouble heating her home now, but she could not even go inside of her home in the middle of the night. She instantly called the police to help her. She could not go back in until it was cleared out and save to breathe in it again. Now, her whole home was frosty with all of the windows and doors opened. It was the middle of winter season and it was snowing. She said she would never get a gas heater again. If she knew what she knows now, she would have never purchased the home or updated the system.
