Stereo speakers have shorted out

Our teenage child enjoys to play his music undoubtedly loud.

I understand his desire to do so because I did when I was his age.

Of course he can’t play it that loud when my nice friend and I have guests over or any time after eleven o’clock at night. Once he played the stereo so loud that the speakers blew! One Friday afternoon the house was noisy, as usual. I never heard the clicking sounds coming from the boiler in our basement as a result, but so when the house started to get a bit cold, I took a look at the thermostat plus realized that the temperature had dropped by seven degrees. The first thing I did was to run to the basement plus see if I could see the pilot light. That was okay, but what I noticed was the clicking sounds coming from inside the boiler. I ran back upstairs to call our Heating as well as A/C contractor. But before I could make the call, I had to run to the second floor to tell my child to turn the music down so that I could hear to make the call. Once I got the professional on the iphone plus described the problem, he told me that the clicking sounds could be one of several things. The motor bearings could be worn plus need replacement – which should be done soon or the motor could burn out, then another cause could be an issue with the gas valve. This problem would require a professional from the gas contractor to repair it, as required by law, and finally, the pilot assembly could have come loose, preventing the pilot light from functioning properly. In any event, he promised to come that day to maintenance the problem.

The sleepover is wonderful

The intermittent pilot flame goes out after the heating cycle plus remains off until the next time the thermostat calls for heat

Everything was ready, however the furniture had been pushed aside to make room for our sleeping bags, the snacks plus Coca-Cola were in the fridge, plus the movies had been ordered… I was having a sleepover at my house with three of my best friends. The big event had been on our calendars for weeks plus the excitement was building… But Murphy’s Law, it seemed, had prevailed – whatever could go wrong – did! The boiler had quit with no warning whatsoever. I panicked, of course; Who could come this late on a Friday afternoon to maintenance it? I found a number to call for an Heating as well as A/C professional and, thankfully, he was able to come within the hour. The problem was – he came at quite a cost. But what choice did I have? Once the professional arrived, he went to the basement plus started assessing the cause. I wanted to rest next to him plus tell him to hurry, but I forced myself to stay out of his way. It didn’t take long for him detect what was causing the boiler to quit, and he said that since I had an induced draft boiler, an intermittent pilot ignites the burner gas with a high voltage spark only when the thermostat calls for heat. The intermittent pilot flame goes out after the heating cycle plus remains off until the next time the thermostat calls for heat. What had happened was that the ignitor had cracked plus needed to be replaced. I was so blissful that it was just a matter of replacing a part, which – thankfully, he had in his truck. In no time, the boiler was running again plus the house slowly started warming up – just in time for the sleepover.
