I have lived with my family my whole life and I have decided it is time to live on my own.
I am turning twenty-five next week and want to make sure that I know how to take care of house before I get married and start having kids.
I know it is going to be a learning process because my mom and dad have always taken care of things for me, but I know I am getting too old to rely on them for everything. Last week I ran into my first big issue while living on my own. I woke up in the middle of the night to a giant puddle on my floor. At first thought maybe I spilled water and forgot to clean it up, but after further investigation I found that was not the case. The puddle was coming from a leak in my HVAC unit closet. The cooling unit it had started to leak and now there was a giant mess. I didn’t know what to do at first so I called my dad. He said I needed to call a local HVAC company to come out and inspect my cooling unit, but it was most likely leaking because the air filter had not been changed properly. After having a HVAC company come out I realized he was right about me not changing the air conditioner filter. I need to make sure that I am changing it every three months so make sure that the cooling unit coils don’t freeze and then cause another leak.
