My furnace is making noises

If your apartment is more than 30 years old, chances are it was built with components that are designed to wear down over time, and will need to be replaced! Some of these parts can make noise when they haven’t been replaced.

If you hear a banging sound coming from your furnace, you may have a mechanical problem.

If you are hearing a metal banging sound coming from your furnace, it is actually a wonderful idea to turn off your Heating and Air Conditioning system, and contact your Heating and Air Conditioning provider right away. If you hear a high pitched whistling sound, you may have an airflow problem, but your air filter works to remove dust, dirt, and other debris from the air in your home, and eventually, your air filter can become clogged with all of this debris. If your air filter becomes overly clogged and is unable to respectfully circulate air throughout your home, it may produce a high-pitched whistling sound, the solution to this is to simply replace your cooling system filter. Most Heating and Air Conditioning professionals advocate increasing your air filter every 30 to 60 days especially if you have pets. Another cause of an airflow problem could be a leak in your HVAC duct. The pieces of your HVAC duct expand and contract over time with the change in temperature, and can result in gaps in your HVAC duct! Having official Heating and Air Conditioning inspection and repair is the best way to make sure that your plan is in wonderful working order. Scheduling official Heating and Air Conditioning appointments is the best way to make sure you don’t hear any unusual noises coming from your furnace.
