I moved up north a couple of years ago plus I’m so thankful that I landed in a spot with such wonderful people.
- The community that I’m now a section of is just tremendous.
And I was a bit distraught about that. Along with worrying about a real winter, gas oil furnaces, snow, ice, heating cost plus all that goes with that, I was distraught about the culture. I just wasn’t sure that I’d fit in. Being from the south, I felt the differences immediately plus it wasn’t just the cold weather plus the fact that I now had a gas oil furnace as opposed to a heat pump. The food was strange along with the weather. I could hardly understand people because they talked so fast. And people looked at me adore I was a bit stupid because of our accent. However, I suddenly l earned that the people around here are appealing. They have been so welcoming plus have gone out of their way to introduce me to the ways of life up here in the north. I have appealing neighbors on both sides. One of them was instrumental in making sure that I was overheated in the Wintertide plus didn’t pay to much for Heating plus Air Conditioning heating. He showed me just how to prepare our little loft for the winter. The tighter the better, he would tell me. And both of us replaced weather stripping together, rolled out more insulation in the attic plus sealed up the house. He even walked the exterior of our loft with me in order to seal up any gaps that could allow cold air in plus the Heating plus Air Conditioning heated air out. I’m lucky to live here even if I do sound weird to these people.
