The city gets to me every now and again.
I’m fortunate to live in a great condo with all the amenities.
But sometimes, I just get tired of all the pavement, the air conditioning, the noise and just all that goes with city life. For me, I have to separate myself a bit from the city in order to be sure that I maintain some balance. For me, that has always been getting out of the HVAC and heading to a cabin my family has had for generations. It’s pretty rustic but it has indoor plumbing, electricity and a decent size kitchen. But it’s not the cabin that I’m there for as much as it’s what the cabin is sitting in. And that is some of the most pristine nature you can find only a few hours from the city. Being at the cabin immediately regulates my stress and anxiety. It’s like a weight coming off my shoulders. However, I could rarely get any of my immediate family to come out with me. Shoot, hardly any of my entire family went out to the cabin. So I thought that maybe the cabin needed a bit of a refresh to be just that much more appealing to those who thought it was just too rustic. And I did it under the radar. I even found an HVAC company out near where the cabin is to come out and install a ductless multi split HVAC system. A ductless heat pump doesn’t require air ducts and is easy to install. With a few other amenities added, I finally surprised everyone with the great unveiling of the new cabin. Haven’t been to the cabin alone since.
