Moving back home has been quite an experience, but it was the best thing to do. At the start of the pandemic, I worked as a waitress in the city when the restaurant business ground to a halt. Mom wasn’t comfortable being alone in my house, so she asked me to move back home. At first, I only brought a few clothes but later went for all my things when I realized a lockdown was imminent. I moved back into my old bedroom and began helping dad with his woodwork projects out in the shed. It was like I was a little girl all over again helping him out. Only now can I carry most of the tools and timber he uses for the handmade furniture. Dad is retired and makes more money selling his furniture than he did at his old job. When I was home, I helped him set up a website and some social media pages to promote his work. Many people place orders, and he delivers the pieces once they’re complete. Last week, we were busy working on a swing for a little girl in the neighborhood. Mom came to the shed and informed us there was something wrong with the air conditioning system in the house. It was producing less and less cool air, so dad opted to contact the HVAC repair company. Lucky for us, the HVAC experts weren’t too busy, and one was sent to our home. He evaluated the unit and noticed it had a worn-out air filter that had to be replaced. Also, mom spoke to him about the high humidity levels, and he suggested we get a dehumidifier to work alongside the AC unit.
