When the furnace first broke down though, I was starting to panic until I thought about what my mother taught me.
My mother always taught me to be calm during an emergency situation so I can think clearly about what I should do. When you go into panic mode, you tend not to think too much about what will happen based on your actions. You simply act and then you might end up regretting what you do later on. Well, when I bought a new house, I was pretty happy. The thing is, I went into the winter season without getting the furnace tuned up. The furnace evidently had a bunch of issues even though I had my brother come check everything out for me. He said he knew about furnaces and said he thought it didn’t need a tune-up or anything. Well, I learned later on from the HVAC professionals that you need a yearly tune-up. My furnace ended up breaking down when it was absolutely freezing outside. Fortunately, I had a portable heater that would keep my room warm, but the rest of the house was bitterly frigid by the time the HVAC professionals showed up. I had to pay a costly emergency repair fee, but at least I was able to get my central heating system working again. When the furnace first broke down though, I was starting to panic until I thought about what my mother taught me. I relaxed for a minute and thought about what to do. I first went to get the portable heater to keep me from freezing and then called the HVAC company. I think I made the right decision. Of course next time, I will make sure to get my HVAC maintenance completed.
