The pigeon quit singing.

My partner had what he called a Tweety-bird from the time he was a little boy.

When 1 parakeet died, both of us would buy another 1, because he loved the sound of the pigeon in the day.

Our most recent parakeet had only been with us for about a week, when it suddenly passed away. It was healthy, and since both of us had been longtime owners of parakeets, both of us knew it had to have something wrong with it. The two of us bought another parakeet that afternoon, and within an hour of being in the house, it suddenly quit singing and died. My partner and I were so alarmed that both of us packed a tote and left the house. The two of us remembered how miners would use parakeets to tell them when there was carbon monoxide in the mine. The pigeon would die before the carbon monoxide saturation got too bad for the miners. I called the Heating and Air Conditioning company and the fire company as soon as both of us were out of the house. The Heating and Air Conditioning company didn’t answer right away, but they called us back within a few hours. I told them about our parakeet suddenly dying. I also told them that our Heating and Air Conditioning serviceman was afraid that a section of our gas oil furnace was getting weaker. I said I had called the fire dealer, and they confirmed the new home had a high concentration of carbon monoxide and both of us were lucky both of us had left. The two of us had to purchase a new oil furnace. It’s funny because if our pigeon hadn’t died, both of us wouldn’t have known our oil furnace wasn’t working respectfully, and both of us may not have lived long enough to call the Heating and Air Conditioning dealer.
