Our granddaughter was with us Last weekwhen both of us passed a prison. She was really distraught going past the building and he had all kinds of questions. She made Papa pull over so he could look at the sharp wire all along the walls. He told his that there were some people inside who were being punished and the wire kept them from crawling over the walls and running away. She didn’t enjoy that they would run away, although he said he understood. She noticed that the building was all rock and this had his distraught. She told us how he had burned his feet when he took his shoes off and walked on the sidewalk in front of the house. If the sidewalk got that hot, he was sure the people in the building would get hot. She wanted to think if they had air conditioning to keep them cool. Papa simply told his that of course, there is air conditioning in the jailhouse. The people inside couldn’t survive if they didn’t have air conditioning in the summer. They even had heating for the winter. He told his that the large machines on top of the building were the cooling systems and there were four oil heating systems in the basement. When he asked how he knew all that about the oil heating systems and the air conditioning, he proudly told his that he helped install the Heating and Air Conditioning system. She wanted to think if he walked up on the wall enjoy those guys he saw. He laughed and said he was 1 of the Heating and Air Conditioning servicemans who installed all the Heating and Air Conditioning component when the prison was first built.
