I probably shouldn’t have told my buddies that I was getting a new HVAC system installed in my house. The only reason was because my old HVAC was breaking down too much and it was too expensive to have it repaired all the time. When the HVAC professional recommended that I replace the system, I told him I just wanted to replace it with something cheap. He went over the different HVAC systems and the differences in price, and I naturally went for the lower end HVAC system. It was actually more energy efficient than my old system, but that’s just because HVAC technology continues to improve over the years. When I told my buddies, they were asking me about different HVAC systems I might be getting. One friend asked if I was going for radiant heated floors. Another one said I should get rapid heating and cooling in my house. My other friend laughed and said I should get something amazing like a geothermal HVAC system. I just had a wild look on my face implying that my friends were nuts. I told them all that there was no way I was going to pay all that money for a new HVAC system. When they asked what I was getting, I shrugged and just said a normal central HVAC unit, nothing special. It really wasn’t a big deal I thought, but everybody said I should have invested in something that was more energy efficient with all the options in HVAC technology these days. One friend said I should at least get a smart thermostat, and I mentioned that I was actually considering that.
