I was so disappointed when I learned that my brother’s oil furnace was destroyed because he was scammed. He said he searched online for a cheap oil refueling service to take care of his oil furnace. He ended up having a shady guy come out and talk about his cheaper fuel that was excellent for the furnace system. He was saying that the oil he made was similar to rocket fuel and would make the furnace last all winter without having to refuel again. I guess my brother is a little bit naive and he decided to go for the refueling service with this guy. Well, when you go to actually smell the oil reserve for the oil furnace, it smells like methane gas mixed with who knows what. I knew that whatever it was wasn’t meant to go in the oil furnace! The oil furnace was entirely ruined and this was confirmed when an HVAC expert came out. The guy said you should never trust anybody who claims they are a professional if they cannot show their credentials. My brother felt stupid, but people fall for scams all the time, especially in the HVAC industry. I helped him cover half the cost but I told him he would have to pay me back eventually. He promised me and I trust him because he has always been true to his word. I really hope he doesn’t try to hire some fake HVAC professional again in the future.
