If you are an HVAC technician that works for an HVAC company, I would recommend that you leave the HVAC company and start on your own.
Now, HVAC companies are useful for new HVAC technicians that do not have a lot of practical experience, but if you have been an HVAC technician for at least ten years, I would encourage you to start thinking about leaving your HVAC company.
I know that there are a lot of risks involved, but I am here to tell you that doing freelance HVAC work is way better than working for an HVAC company. I am my own HVAC technician, and I am self-employed in my area. Now, when I first became an HVAC technician on my own, it was difficult. People tend to trust HVAC companies over individuals, so it took some time to build up my reputation as an HVAC technician. However, once I did a few jobs, the work began piling up. Working as a freelance HVAC technician has a lot of advantages. First of all, all of the money that you make as an HVAC technician goes to me. I pay taxes, but the customers pay for the parts for the HVAC units, and all of the labor charges go directly to me. Since I operate out of a barn on my property, I have very little costs. Also, as an HVAC technician that works freelance, I make all of my own hours. I work when I want to, and I take a break whenever I want to take a break. I know that it might sound scary, but I would highly recommend doing your HVAC work solo.
